Coaches Being Dudes: Greg Kampe And Tom Izzo Wore Matching Grinch Sweaters, Crashed A Press Conference Just To Make Fun Of Each Other
I don't think I've ever seen Tom Izzo as happy as he is when Greg Kampe is around. They are obviously close friends, do the ugly Christmas sweater game every year but that's genuine happiness. This is what I assume old guys being dudes is like. You wear some matching shirt, think it's hilarious, make jokes about music and how your second best player got hurt during warmups. Wouldn't have it any other way.
That said, we can acknowledge how absurd this is right? I know Oakland is a mid-major, but how many times will you ever see two coaches doing a postgame interview together? They aren't the only friends in the country who happen to be Division I coaches. I love Kampe. I know people wanted to fire off jokes last night when this man showed back up, but how little did I know he'd be a man who changed my life:
I could legit listen to Greg Kampe talk for a few hours straight. Dude has been coaching at Oakland for roughly 72 years. He's seen it all, not afraid to crack jokes and just there to have a good time. You can tell this is the one moment these guys get to just hang out. We've all been there and if you haven't yet, embrace being young. But for everyone else you know what I'm talking about. You get a little older, everyone starts getting married and having kids, the schedule gets tight and you don't get to just hang out with your boys as easy as it once was. Then when you get back together it's immediately cracking jokes and busting balls. That's what happened here.
